On October 29, 2021, the Technical Specifications for Intelligent Network Facilities of Highways in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China’s first intelligent network facilities standard for highways, was released at the 2021 Eighth China (Greater Bay Area) International Internet of Vehicles Conference”.
Currently, China has 16 demonstration testing areas for intelligent connected vehicles, with test roads of a length of more than 3,500 kilometers. Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and many other cities have built intelligent infrastructure such as 5G communication and roadside networking equipment, and performed intelligent transformation of test roads by adopting digital transportation equipment, and so on, which have promoted the development and industrialization of intelligent connected vehicle technology.
The Specifications lay down the overall requirements for the construction of intelligent urban road facilities as well as data, management, application, safety and other support platforms. The Specifications provide a safe, unified and stable road environment for intelligent connected vehicles. It provides a basis for the building or expansion of intelligent roads in many places in the Greater Bay Area, the proven experience and reference for the formation of industry standards or national standards and a basis for the construction of large-scale intelligent infrastructure in other Chinese cities.
